metamorfic_moon is a community designed to bring the R/T community together and to put a little more R/T love in the world by promoting the very best in R/T fanart and fanfic on the web.
Just like a cosy Order gathering at Grimmauld Place (minus the maniacal bigoted portraits and creepy house-elf heads on the walls, not to mention the miserable live one skulking about the kitchen), metamorfic_moon is a place where R/T artists, writers, and art and fic enthusiasts come together and bond over our mutual love for a werewolf and a Metamorphmagus. Regular discussions provide a forum for us to get to know each other -- an essential ingredient in a community where the members open up their hearts to share their creative fruits with others. They also give us a chance to dissect the finer points of the R/T (you'll quickly discover that metamorfic_moon's members have as many ideas and interpretations of the characters as Tonks does hair colours!), which inspires us to take new approaches to characterisation and storyline in our artistic endeavours. And to help members improve at a technical level, discussions also include all aspects of storytelling and the creative process.
And of course, our favourite and most important discussion topic is the crazy fangirling of sexy werewolves.
With all the flair of the Triwizard Tournament (although admittedly with much less danger), metamorfic_moon includes unique and exciting forms of ficathon, constructed to stretch and challenge both new and experienced R/T writers and artists. Several times a year we host what is known around here as the Jumble, in which writers and artists work from four prompts of different types: past Jumbles have included Magical beings, spells, objects, and characters from Harry Potter-verse, locations in both the Muggle and Wizarding worlds, emotions, and of course, genres. Each Christmas we host an Advent, which blends the magic of Christmas with the magic of JK Rowling's world, and is one of the most popular events here. We encourage anyone who has done R/T fic or art or wants to try their hand at R/T fic or art for the first time to sign up for our next event!
I am neither a writer nor an artist -- just an R/T shipper, rabid Remus fangirl, and ardent Auror admirer. Am I still allowed to join metamorfic_moon? Absolutely! The community needs consumers as much as it needs creators, and readers and reviewers are valued members of the Meta community.
I'm new to the community and unsure about how to start contributing. metamorfic_moon prides itself on being a friendly and welcoming community. Please don't feel shy about jumping in; new members are always joining the ranks, and it's unlikely that you will be the only new person around, especially during events.
I've written a fic/drawn a piece of art. Can I pimp it at metamorfic_moon? Sorry, but we only accept fic and art that are submitted to community events. Visit our sister site, metamorphed_fic, for details on how to have your work indexed there.
Remus and Tonks are my OTP, but I love to write about their previous relationships before they found true love with each other. Can I write this sort of fic for or include flashbacks with other boyfriends and girlfriends in my metamorfic_moon entries? Previous het relationships are permitted, but the relationship focused on in the story must be Remus/Tonks. No Remus/Anybody or Tonks/Anybody may be depicted within the actual story -– only mentioned as background information. There are lots of other communities for those stories!
I love Teddy Remus Lupin and think he's the greatest wizard in the making! Can I write a Teddy fic for a metamorfic_moon event? One of the nicer things about Deathly Hallows was the appearance of a turquoise-haired addition to the family. Obviously he's more than welcome to make an appearance in your fic or art but, again, we're an R/T community, not a Teddy community, so submissions to metamorfic_moon events are required to feature Remus and Tonks physically present in the story as the major protagonists, contributing to the main action and/or dialogue. If you're writing or drawing AU, the same applies, even if you're extending their family, or have gone forwards in time to the epilogue, for example, and fancy having a crack at how R/T are coping with life with a grown-up son... ;)
I've written a fic, but before I post it, can metamorfic_moon hook me up with a beta reader or Brit-picker? Unfortunately, at this time, we don't pair up writers and betas, but we hope through interactions in our community you'll get to know other members well enough to feel comfortable asking. We hope in the future to have something more formal in place!
I couldn't manage to meet the deadline for a Jumble or other metamorfic_moon event, but I have completed my entry now. Are you still interested? Yes! If you missed a deadline but later finished your work based on the prompts given for an event, please post the work at your own journal or another archive, email a link to one of the moderators, and we will add the link to the master index for the event.
I have a suggestion for a discussion I'd like to see at metamorfic_moon. How can I submit it? Please visit this post. We cannot guarantee to use it, but all suggestions are welcome.
When will the next metamorfic_moon Jumble take place? When an event has been scheduled, a post will be made to the community, and once sign-ups are being taken, you'll find a link to the sign-up post at the top of the sidebar.
By signing up at metamorfic_moon, either as a member or a watcher, you are solemnly swearing to abide by the rules laid down here. These rules exist to create and maintain the spirit of fun and friendliness that fosters a productive creative environment, and are also subject to change. In the instance of such, community members will be notified of updates and revisions. Rules for the ficathons will be posted at the time the event is announced.
1. Member Age The community is open to anyone interested in Remus/Tonks fic and art, provided that they are over the age of 13. All work posted here is rated, but not all will be age-appropriate for those under 13. metamorfic_moon maintainers trust that readers will not view material if they are under the suitable age, and take no responsibility for the content viewed by underage readers.
2. Language While we accept art and fic submissions of all ratings, please keep language PG-13 rated in comments and discussions.
Please keep all posts civil and polite. If addressing a post by another member, please remember that the rules of constructive criticism apply to disagreeing with theories or points as well as to fic. Rudeness will not be tolerated. Impolite, insulting, or otherwise inappropriate posts will be deleted by the mods, and the poster will be warned. Persistant offenders will be banned.
3. Content. metamorfic_moon accepts fics of all ratings. However, NC-17 submissions will be accepted entirely at the discretion of the moderators. Under no circumstances will we accept bestiality or incest, and other strong themes will be considered for appropriateness.
For artists, any media is acceptable up to an R rating (so no graphic nudity or explicit sexual scenes, please). Appropriate warnings should be listed in the post information outside the lj-cut.
4. Plagiarism Plagiarism is not tolerated at metamorfic_moon. If we find that work posted here is not the work of the member, either taken from another fic writer or fanartist, or is the manipulated work of a published writer or artist, the submission will be deleted from the community, and at the moderators' discretion, the member may be banned from the community.
Questions? Comments? Idea for a discussion topic? Unique idea for an event? The metamorfic_moon mod squad are only too happy to take your suggestions into consideration.
